Both of my parents are hardcore conservatives. Knowing this, I avoided political discussions with them my whole life until I left for the University of Florida.
In my naivete, I thought this was a good idea. I thought I could say whatever I wanted, because I was “my own person now.”
But my parents simply blamed my differing beliefs on liberal professors who had “brainwashed” me into changing my political belief system. I guess in another life I was a Republican.
If only Harvard University had done this study three years ago.
Basically, Harvard discovered that although most professors vote Democrat, they identify themselves as being politically moderate. Conservative professors are still in the minority.
I just found it an interesting tidbit and an excuse to tell a story.
